Vintage '90s NWT Escada by Margaretha Ley Black Embroidered Silk Blend Evening Jacket - 36 / 6

$250.00

This incredible evening jacket by Escada features bold embroidery with beading on the front and back, as well as around the collar, cuffs and hemline; gold-tone "knot" metal buttons and an extra button is attached to the original tag; light internal shoulder padding. It still has the original Nordstrom tag attached, indicating it was part of a two-piece pantsuit retailing at $2,278, but I unfortunately do not have the pants that originally were part of the set.

Shown with Vintage Escada Black Wool Pinstriped Pants, also available in my shop.

• Shell: 54% Acetate, 46% Silk
• Lining: 100% Silk
• Made in Germany
• Designer label: Escada by Margaretha Ley
• Care: Dry Clean Only
• Includes one extra gold "knot" button attached to back label
• Fabric is black with white embroidery and trim
• Based on label, style and construction, I estimate this piece dates to the early 1990s
• Jacket can also be paired back with a pair of Escada black wool pinstriped pants, pictured, also available in my shop

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No flaws to note.

Marked German size 36, equivalent to a US size 6 according to Escada sizing charts. In my opinion, this item best fits a modern size 4, but please refer to measurements.
• 18" across chest (fits up to 36" bust)
• 16" across waist
• 24" sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff)
• 17" shoulder to shoulder
• 43" length
All measurements are taken flat in inches. When considering fit, compare it to a garment you own that fits well. For waist and hip measurements, double it to get the full circumference.
Modeled on a size S (4-6) petite (5'3").

About: Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley founded Escada in 1976 in Germany. The first label was Escada Sportliche Eleganz by SRB, but it was soon shortened to Escada by Margaretha Ley. This line featured high-end knit sportswear, but by the 1980s Escada had branched off into other areas of women’s clothing, such as separates and evening wear. In 1982, Escada began to branch off into other markets, including the United States and Hong Kong. Throughout the 1980s, they expanded until they were considered to be one of the largest fashion companies in the world. Margaretha Ley was the primary designer until her death in 1992.

All items are vintage and pre-loved. All major flaws are listed, but small blemishes like loose stitches and buttons may not be in the item description as they are to be expected when purchasing vintage items.

We do not accept returns unless you believe that item was misrepresented in our shop. Please message us and ask questions! We would love to take the time to chat with our customers and find you the perfect vintage piece.
